How do you split an item stack?

Symptom: Dragging ointment, rations, or another stack moves the entire pile instead of a smaller amount.

Short answerIn the playtest, hold Shift while dragging—not only when first clicking the stack.

Most likely cause

The retired Demo used a nonstandard split interaction and also received split/discard fixes. The Early Access control is not yet known.

Legacy test path—reconfirm every label and control in the EA build.

Step 1Do not assume the old control still applies on 4 September.
Step 2In the retired Demo, a player reported holding Shift throughout the drag—not only on the initial click.
Step 3In Early Access, first inspect the item tooltip or control guide, then test with a low-value stack and record the displayed interaction.

Success feedback

A smaller quantity moves or a quantity selector opens while the remainder stays in its original slot.
